The microphone is now actually larger and provides more pick-up than before. The slide switch is now more rugged and is more resistant to use and abuse without loss of funtion. The navigation keys on the face of the unit are bigger and ergonomically design to make it easier for navigation with your thumb. The erase button pops at you in a very distinctive yellow. The on/off switch got moved from being a thumb function to being an index finger function. The new Olympus DS-7000 offers two charging modes trickle charge with USB cable or docking to the charger. The USB charging method will allow you to use universal USB chargers for charging in remote locations. There is still two 3.5mm jack one for a headset and one for a microphone. This allows the recorder the use of conference microphones that can be daisy chained together. These two jacks are no longer at the top but got moved to center on the left side of the recorder. The Display is now 50% larger but more notably is in color. Olympus is continues its use of SD and micro SD cards giving the DS-7000 flexibility and now more capacity by supporting up to 32GB of memory.
