You can use it with the DS-5000 DS-3400 For Hands Free Dictation Only. Not for transcription, For transcription you need the Olympus AS-5000 Kit which includes the DSS Transcription Module Software

Connecting to the DS-5000 USB cradle: Hands free recording is possible while the DS-5000 is the cradle. Use the footswitch to control recording or playback functions of the recorder.
Connecting to the PC: Connecting the RS-27 footswitch to your PC permits you to control playback functions of the software, you need to have the DSS Transcription Module Software Olympus AS-5000.
